Volunteer Waiver & Release

Eat Happy Now Volunteer Waiver & Release

This agreement covers Volunteer's participation in EHN's food rescue activities in Washington and California, including picking up, sorting, packing, transporting, and delivering donated food ("Volunteer Activities").

1. Waiver, Release, and Insurance Disclaimer

Volunteer (and/or Parent/Guardian) releases and holds harmless Eat Happy Now (EHN), its staff, officers, and agents from any and all liability, claims, or demands arising out of volunteer activities, including bodily injury, illness, death, or property damage, whether caused by negligence or otherwise. Volunteer understands that EHN does not assume responsibility for or provide medical, health, or disability insurance coverage for any volunteer.

2. Assumption of Risk

The Volunteer and/or Parent/Guardian understand that the work for EHN may include activities that may be of some risk to the Volunteer, including, but not limited to, driving a personal vehicle, visiting donor and recipient sites. Volunteer and/or Parent/Guardian hereby expressly and specifically assumes all risk of injury or harm in these activities and release EHN from all liability for injury, illness, death, or property damage resulting from the activities of the volunteer's work for EHN.

3. Vehicle & Driving Requirements

Only volunteers who are 18 or older may drive for EHN. A volunteer who drives must hold a valid driver's license and the auto liability insurance required by law, which is the primary coverage in any accident. Understand that EHN does not reimburse vehicle costs or cover vehicle damage.

Volunteers who are not eligible or permitted to drive must perform rescues accompanied by a licensed driver.

4. Media & Photo Release

Volunteer grants EHN permission to capture, reproduce, and publish photos, video, and audio recordings taken during volunteer activities for promotional, organizational, or digital media use without payment.

5. Volunteer Guidelines & Governing Law

Volunteer agrees to adhere to all EHN volunteer guidelines. This waiver is intended to be as broad as permitted by law and shall be governed by the laws of the State of Washington or California, depending on where the volunteer activity takes place. If any provision of this Waiver is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

6. Code of Conduct

Volunteer will follow staff instructions, treat everyone respectfully, and not harass or discriminate. EHN maintains a substance-free environment and may end an assignment immediately for non-compliance, unsafe or disrespectful conduct, repeated unexcused absence or tardiness, reasonable belief of theft (zero tolerance), being under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or vaping, or a food safety concern.
