Summer 2026 Internships

Happy Summer! Welcome to Eat Happy Now Summer 2026 Internship Opportunities. These are all unpaid summer internship projects open to High School students who are looking to contribute some of their summer time to the community and help Eat Happy Now realize its mission and vision of a hunger free community for all. This internship program is fully organized and led by the Eat Happy Now Youth Council. For any questions, email youth@eathappynow.org.
NOTES: The project leaders working closely with the project contributors will determine the time that it will take to finish the project based on the success metrics and criteria that they will define. You will be required to attend frequent progress update virtual calls and at least one final presentation at the end of August. Make sure you submit the correct email address as we will email you by June 15th if you are approved for an internship and which one you are approved for. Please select more than one project in case we have multiple students interested for the same project.

1. Driver Hero / Leaders: Akanksha + Rhythm

June 8 - August 28 (12 weeks)

Get behind the wheel and make a direct impact on your community. As the Driver Hero, you'll use the Eat Happy Now app and existing logistics network to pick up surplus food from local businesses and deliver it to nonprofit partners —ensuring healthy food reaches families who need it instead of ending up in a landfill. You can't do it alone — you'll also recruit friends and volunteers to join you on runs and help hit one goal: rescue 12,000 pounds of food over 12 weeks. Deliverables: 12,000 lbs of food rescued (1,000 lbs/week target), a team of recruited volunteers, weekly pickup/delivery log, and final presentation on your impact and recommendations for improving routes and operations. Requirements: Valid driver's license or a parent/family/friend to drive, reliable vehicle, ~10 hrs/week, ability to lift 50 lbs.

2. The 10K Film / Leaders: Yuvi + Nicole

June 22 - August 28 (10 weeks)

Make a real documentary. You'll follow the Driver Hero's journey to 12,000 pounds, capture the people and places behind food rescue, and produce a short film that tells Eat Happy Now's story in a way no website ever could. Along the way, you'll create short-form content for social media that grows our audience and builds our brand. Deliverables: 5-7 minute documentary, 8+ short-form videos (Reels/TikTok/Shorts), refreshed social media content calendar, and final screening presentation.

3. Community Feed / Leaders: Raunit + Rishika

June 22 - August 28 (10 weeks)

Put food directly in people's hands — two ways. You'll host one pop-up cooking event using surplus rescued food, showing families how to turn everyday ingredients into real meals. AND you'll explore launching a community fridge in a high-need neighborhood — scouting the location, securing permissions, stocking it with rescued food, and building a volunteer rotation to keep it running after summer ends. Deliverables: one pop-up cooking events hosted, one proposal for a community fridge, volunteer maintenance schedule, community promotion materials, and final presentation on reach and sustainability plan.

4. Pipeline Scout / Leaders: AK + PK

June 22 - August 28 (10 weeks)

Find all the food. You'll pitch 20+ local businesses on becoming food rescue donors — restaurants, farms, hotels, convention centers. But you'll also go deeper: partner with one restaurant to go zero-waste for 30 days and tap into school cafeteria surplus from summer programs. You're building the entire supply side of Eat Happy Now's food rescue pipeline. Preferably find donors in new areas that do not have as many donors established. Deliverables: 20+ businesses pitched with 5+ new donors onboarded, one zero-waste restaurant partnership with 30-day tracking log, school lunch rescue partnerships researched and possibly established, and final presentation.

5. Website and Tech Revamp / Leader: Raunit

June 22 - August 28 (10 weeks)

Give Eat Happy Now's website a fresh look. You'll audit the current site, benchmark against top nonprofit websites, and redesign key pages to make them more professional, trustworthy, and action-oriented — including a new Donors Landing Page with QR-code onboarding that makes it effortless for new donors to sign up. Deliverables: Site audit with recommendations, redesigned page mockups with implemented changes, new Donors Landing Page with QR onboarding flow, and final presentation showcasing before vs. after.
